During my stay at Northwich for my glassworking class, I frequented the Blue Cap very often for my daily meals.
I actually ate at this restaurant more than once. In fact, I ate two meals a day, every day, for about a week during my stay at Northwich while I took a glassworking class with Ray Youngs. You can read about my experiences here.
Because I was staying at the Premier Inn, I served breakfast at this place. This is an addition to the lunch I ate at the end of my glassworking classes. So, let’s talk about the breakfast first.
The Blue Cap serves a very basic breakfast. You have your choice of some juice, toast, cheese, butter, etc. In addition to this menu, you can order freshly-made eggs, sausages, hash browns, etc. It is very simple food, but good enough to get your day started.
Now, onto the lunch – something that I got acquainted with very quickly. During my time in Northwich, I ordered many different things from the menu. All of them were great. I’ve ordered the Brewer’s Chicken, several different types of steaks, their burgers, their fish and chips, and many different items from the dessert and soups menu.
All I can say is that I was never let down by the quality and the taste of their food. Their steaks were some of the best steaks that I have ever tasted. Their steaks basically sit at one of my top three steaks of all time. This, combined with their pepper corn sauce makes their steaks something to die for.
Their burgers are great too. While I was not much of a fan of the gourmet burger, their sunday lunch menu burger was perfect. It came with a solid patty of beef and a side of fries.
I don’t normally order desserts, but I couldn’t help but order some from their menu. Again, I was very happy with the desserts. I tried things like their Salted Caramel Sundae, Indulgent Chocolate Fudge Cake, ice-creams. All of the dishes were just fantastic.
The staff were extremely friendly and nice. They made the dining experience even better. There’s nothing negative to say about this place. It is definitely a place worth checking out. They will not disappoint.
