Random Restaurant Review: Mozzamo, Munich

I popped into Mozzamo while I was on a trip to Munich.

Mozzamo is an Italian restaurant in Munich, Germany. I stumbled across them while I was taking a tram in the city. Craving some pizza, I thought it wouldn’t be a bad idea to stop by and check out the food.

The first problem I had with the restaurant became very apparent as I walked through the door. The waitress spoke no English. This completely blew my mind because Munich is such a popular tourist destination. She’d have to be living in a bubble to not pick up a little English. In fact, I was so irritated with the whole not-speaking English thing in Munich that I wrote a blog post about it. I eventually managed to find a waiter that did speak English fairly fluently and he was able to take my order.

Next, I noticed the restaurant was unbelievably hot. This was not a surprise, though, as many places in Munich (and I’m assuming the rest of Germany) do not have air conditioning in their buildings. This might be a problem in the future, with global warming becoming a big issue and summers becoming hotter and hotter.

As I walked in, I noticed a customer had brought his dog along with him. I like dogs just as much as the next person. However, there is a serious hygeine issue when it comes to bringing animals into a restaurant. I take issue with that. The fact that the restaurant didn’t seem to mind was somewhat worrying.

Food-wise, the food was okay. The margherita pizza I got was decent. It had a nice tomato sauce base which was a redeeming point for this place. I then ordered their Tiramisu and got served a fantastic dessert, worth revisiting the restaurant again for.

However, I believe the restaurant is not worth visiting, mainly due to the fact that no one appears to be able to speak any English. I was very lucky in finding the one waiter that did speak English. But even then, I had to wait quite a long time (we’re talking 20 minutes) between courses and an additional 20 minutes to receive my bill. What should have been a 15-minute lunch took about an hour. I was not happy with the service.
